Oroville, Calif.- Freshman Shade Satica netted a team-high 19 points off the bench to lead the No. 3 Butte women's basketball team to a 65-54 season-opening win over No. 7 Santa Rosa on Wednesday evening.
Satica shot 50 percent from the field with three steals, adding a team-high seven boards. Sophomores Sarah Tait and Madalynn Bassett added nine and eight points, respectively, with freshman Jocelyn Medina also chipping in eight. Medina had a solid all-around night, counting six rebounds, including four offensive, three assists, and five steals.
The Roadrunners took a slim two-point lead into the locker room at the half before turning on the jets in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bear Cats 20-7
Butte (1-0) heads to SoCal next to compete in the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Classic, facing LA Trade Tech first on Friday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.
