2013-2014 Season Highlights

  • 2nd in the Big 8 North Conference
  • 5th in Norcal Rankings

  • Overall Record 7-7
  • Conference Record 6-2

The 2014 Season saw the Bear Cubs start off slowly in non-conference play but quickly found confidence and consistency in the Big 8 Conference. Their overall record was 7-7, 6-2 in the Big 8 North Conference. The Bear Cubs nearly upset high ranked Riverside City College in Southern California during their annual trip to the BNP at Indian Wells eventually losing 4-5. Sophomores Jon Sharp, Moses Kuzu, Long Vu and David Quezada had strong results in the line-up while freshman Kevin To shared the one spot in singles and solidified the no. 1 doubles spot with partner Jon Sharp to lead the Bear Cubs into the postseason as the fifth seed eventually losing to the fourth seed Modesto JC in the first round. To received a final singles ranking of 17th in NorCal, while Jon Sharp was ranked 19th, and Long Vu finished 25th. Both To and Sharp finished the Season Ranked 10th in doubles in northern California.

2014-2015 Season Preview

The Bear Cubs will be losing five of their top six players this upcoming season, but will be gaining some strong local recruits including:  Addison Mowforth, no. 1 player from Santa Rosa High School and the Mah Twins, the top two players from Terra Linda High School. Several red shirts will be making their debut with the Cubs as well. Although the team will be missing the experience of five sophomores, Coach Samonte is looking forward to having To as the new captain and leader of the team.

Program History

The Bear Cubs have traditionally focused 100% of their recruiting efforts on local talent, a fleeting characteristic of the top 10 teams in California.  SRJC has managed to compete well with most highly ranked teams saturated with international players. Santa Rosa is proud to be recognized as a tennis program that holds sportsmanship and integrity in the highest regard.

SRJC's Tennis program is recognized for its commitment to volunteering in the community and doing many free clinics and camps for local kids.
