Women's Track: Julia Grimm Hits State Qualifying Standard in Her First Heptathlon

The Bear Cubs traveled up to Chico to compete in the first multi-event meet of the season.  Competing in her first heptathlon, freshman Julia Grimm, out of Vintage High School, hit the state qualifying standard with a total score of 3958, winning the B group and for a brief moment was the lead mark in the nation for college and professionals for 2015. This meet is the earliest heptathlon in the nation every year, and the A group at the meet finished a few hours later.  Over the seven events, Grimm hit personal records in five and made the individual state qualifying standard in both the Javelin and the High Jump.  Allyson Bricker had another solid Hep with the highlight coming from her 800, where she almost took it wire-to-wire, getting out leaned at the line by two four-year athletes from Chico and Fresno-Pacific.

The rest of the women's track team will be traveling to Cupertino Saturday for the De Anza Invitation.
