Women's Water Polo Wins Season Opener, 10-6 Over Cerritos

Santa Rosa Junior College Women's Water Polo started the 2014 season strong with a victory over Cerritos 10-6, at the River Rage Tournament in Sacramento. Sophomore, 2013 All Conference Defender, Lexi Baldwin (pictured) netted the first two goals of the season for the Bear Cubs in the first quarter making the score 2-0.  Santa Rosa continued to control both ends of the pool with a lead of 6-2 at half time. Freshman Dulcie Manchenton tallied four goals, sophomore 2013 All-American Nicole Groat totaled three along with sophomore Amy Rider adding one.
Goalie Christine Lewis made 10 saves and had three steals driving the defensive efforts of the Bear Cubs. Rider also made two key steals and a field save along with freshman Ivylee Senn who tallied a steal in her first water polo game. Lillie Kottinen had two saves in the goal to hold the final score to a 10-6 win.
