Falcons Fly High: Folsom Lake Dominates Santa Rosa in 86-50 Victory

The Folsom Lake College Falcons delivered a commanding performance on their home court Tuesday night, cruising to an 86-50 victory over the Santa Rosa Bear Cubs. With an explosive offense and relentless defensive effort, the Falcons showcased their depth and teamwork, sending a strong message to the rest of the conference.

Game Recap

The game started competitively, with the Bear Cubs keeping pace in the first quarter. However, Folsom Lake found their rhythm in the second, outscoring Santa Rosa 30-16 and heading into halftime with a 52-36 lead. The Bear Cubs struggled to recover in the second half, managing just one point in the fourth quarter as the Falcons' defense locked them down.

Falcons' Stars Shine Bright

Folsom Lake's balanced attack was spearheaded by Athena Brombacher, who posted a game-high 18 points on an efficient 9-for-13 shooting. Brombacher also pulled down seven rebounds and contributed four assists in a standout performance.

Lexi Peters lit up the perimeter, knocking down four three-pointers en route to a 16-point night. Her ability to stretch the floor created opportunities for her teammates, keeping Santa Rosa's defense off balance.

From the bench, Ursula Chen and Leilani Edinburgh provided a spark, combining for 21 points. Chen's three triples added momentum at key moments, while Edinburgh orchestrated the offense with six assists.

The Falcons' depth proved decisive, with all 11 players scoring and the reserves contributing 40 points.

Defensive Dominance

On the defensive end, the Falcons were relentless, holding Santa Rosa to 33% shooting from the field and a mere 1 point in the final frame. Their full-court press and aggressive rebounding limited the Bear Cubs to one-and-done possessions.

The team collectively grabbed 42 rebounds, led by Livi Fernandez with six boards. Nine steals and a blocked shot further underscored the Falcons' defensive prowess.

Coach's Corner

After the game, Head Coach Ali Mollet praised the team's effort and execution. "This was a complete team win," said the coach. "Our depth was the difference tonight. Everyone contributed, and that's what we'll need as we push deeper into the season."

Looking Ahead

With this dominant victory, the Falcons improve to 14-2 and build momentum for their next matchup. Santa Rosa will regroup as they look to rebound from a tough outing.

Folsom Lake's next challenge will be on January 9th at 7:30 pm verse Sierra College as they aim to extend their winning streak and solidify their standing as one of the top teams in the league.
