Hawks Sweep #8 Bear Cubs at Home For Two Conference Wins

Cosumnes River softball swept a doubleheader against #8 ranked Santa Rosa, first winning 3–0, then completing the sweep with a 6–2 victory.

In the opener, CRC's pitching and defense dominated. The game remained scoreless through four innings until the bottom of the fifth, when a double by Abigail Woodfill sparked a three-run rally. Julea Mort pinch ran for Woodfill and scored on Bella Harpster's RBI double. Charlize Fasula drove in a run with a single, and an error allowed Fasula to score the third run. Marissa Alders threw a complete-game shutout, allowing only four hits and no walks while striking out one, earning her eighth win of the season.

In the second game, CRC's offense came alive with 10 hits. Woodfill led the charge, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-RBI double in the second inning. After Santa Rosa cut the lead to 2–1, CRC responded with a three-run fifth and added another insurance run in the sixth. Ariana Fuentes earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing just three hits and two earned runs. Marissa Alders finished the game with a scoreless seventh to secure the save.

With the sweep, CRC improved to 13-11 overall and 6-4 in the conference, showcasing both offensive depth and solid pitching. CRC hopes to continue their win streak as they travel to Butte on Wednesday, March 26th for a non-conference doubleheader.
