Christian McAlvain gets SRJC's offense going in 45-28 win

Former Windsor High quarterback Christian McAlvain threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Santa Rosa JC defeated Foothill, 45-28, in a Big 6 Conference game Saturday night at Bailey Field.

The sophomore connected on scoring passes of 13 and 17 yards to Brandon Singh (Casa Grande) and 25 yards to Terrence Drew.

McAlvain’s scoring runs were 17 and 33 yards.

“He was efficient with the ball,” coach Lenny Wagner said. “He’s improved as the season’s progressed.”

McAlvain finished with 301 yards passing and 62 rushing.

Santa Rosa, which never trailed, led 14-0 after one quarter and 31-14 at halftime. The Bear Cubs racked up 540 yards of offense while holding Foothill to 236.

Bryan Stansbury led the defense with eight tackles followed by Stephan Jenkins with seven. Natu Hezchias (Piner) intercepted two passes and Bryan Stansbury had one.

Kicker Levi Paine had an outstanding night. He averaged 49 yards on two two punts. He also kicked a 33-yard field goal and was perfect on six extra points.

Santa Rosa is 7-2 while Foothill falls to 1-8.

The Bear Cubs wrap up the regular season next Friday night at Diablo Valley.
