The Bear Cubs are just one win away from the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships, but standing in their way is an underdog squad with momentum on their side. The 6th-seeded Bear Cubs will host the 14th/13th-seeded Cosumnes River College Hawks in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Final this Saturday night.

SRJC is coming off a dominant 89-69 victory over Yuba College in Round 2 of the playoffs. The Bear Cubs were led by strong performances from Audon Forgus and Spencer Langowski, who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively. Vincent Jackson was a force on the glass, securing 10 rebounds, including nine on the defensive end, helping SRJC control the pace and limit second-chance opportunities for their opponent.

Cosumnes River, however, enters the matchup as a dangerous team after pulling off a major upset in the previous round. The Hawks stunned #3-seeded College of the Sequoias in a thrilling game, with Kainoa Marasco delivering the dagger—a clutch three-pointer with just 32 seconds left—to seal the win. The Hawks will look to keep their Cinderella run alive and continue defying expectations.

Saturday's showdown promises to be a battle of styles, with SRJC's balanced attack and disciplined defense matching up against a Cosumnes River squad riding high on confidence. The Bear Cubs will need another strong outing from their key players and a continued defensive presence to punch their ticket to the next round.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm at Haehl Pavilion. A berth in the CCCAA State Championships is on the line—expect an electric atmosphere as SRJC looks to keep their championship dreams alive.
