Men's Swimming Breaks Into the State's Top 10

The 2015 SRJC Men's Swim and Dive Team broke into the top 10, finishing 10th overall at the CCCAA State Championship Meet last weekend at East LA College.  This is the 11th time they have finished in the top 10 in the state rankings in the past 12 years.

Highlights included sophomore Ben Crabb's school record setting, 4th place finish in the 200 Back, 1:51.11.  Crabb also finished 8th in the 200 IM, 6th in the 400 IM, and was a member of medal winning relays.  Freshman sensation Jesse Schmidt finished 6th in the 200 IM, 11th in the 200 Breast, and was the consolation heat winner (9th) in the 400 IM. Sophomore Bowen Brooks was also a consolation heat winner in both the 100 and the 200 Breaststrokes.  Sophomore Tom Franicevich was clutch in SRJC's top 8 relay finishes in both the 400 Medley and the 800 Free, and in fact swam on all 5 of the Bear Cubs Relays.  Sophomore Omar Saldivar finaled in the 200 Fly as did freshmen Brandon Miguel (200 Fly and 1650 Free) and Nathan Boas in the 400 IM. 

The SRJC men were led by consistent and season best performances by their sophomores and their three freshmen gained tremendous competition experience at the the state meet in preparation for next season.
