SRJC's swimmers and divers are currently in the middle of their 2016 season, and are just coming off a successful weekend after posting many season bests and state-qualifying times at the Cuesta College Invite in San Luis Obispo.

The Cubs were the overall runner-up team behind conference rival Sierra College, but managed to hold off a hard charging Orange Coast for the 2nd overall spot in the final team standings. Highlights included freshman Bradley John Erickson's school, record-breaking performance in the 200 Breast (2:02.91).  The previous school record was shared by 2009 state champion Walter Gault, and 2014 All American John Bing (2:05.75).

Erickson and team co-captain Jesse Schmidt teamed up for a 1,2 finish in the 100 Breast going 57.61 and 57.90 respectively as well as a 2,3 finish in the 400 IM.

Two other stand-out swims came from freshman, Drew Sipple winning the 500 Free and R.J. Williams winning the 50 Free.

Four of SRJC's "A" relays finished in the top 3 including the 200 Free (3rd), 800 Free (2nd), 200 Medley (2nd), and the 400 Medley (2nd).  The Cubs also finished 4th overall in the 400 Free Relay.

In the CCCAA the SRJC men's team is currently ranking in the top 10 in the state.

The Bear Cubs will compete in the Big 8 Invite this Friday at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. They will travel for a dual against Sierra on March 25th, and then host their final home meets on Saturday, March 26th against Las Positas at 10am and the SRJC Alumni at 3pm. So we hope to see all of our Bear Cub Swimming and Diving Alum out there on the 26th!
