SRJC traveled to Modesto for the Modesto Invitational on 10/5. At the last tune up before the bye week, the Bear Cubs finished with five placers including two finalists, and one champion. Derek Ruffin (125) finished 5th place with a 4-2 record. Karmine Berndt (141) finished 6th place with a 3-2 record, Zac Morgan (174) finished 5th place with a 4-2 record (2 falls). SRJC's pair of finalists were Ali Hamzia (141), who wrestled a tough finals match but came up short against Fresno City's Abraham Cerda & Joe Ellis (197) who secured a first round Fall over Lassen's Chris Wells in the championship match. Hamzia finished the day with a 3-1 record (1 fall) and Ellis finished with a perfect 4-0 record with 3 falls. The Bear Cubs will have this week off as they prepare for Sierra at home on 10/16, and the Northern Regional Team Dual Championships on 10/19 at Modesto Junior College.
