Women's Basketball Signs JC Transfer Brooke Santander

SAN MARCOS, Calif. –Cal State San Marcos women's head basketball coach Renee Jimenez announced the signing of Brooke Santander to the 2016-17 roster.

A 5-8 guard from Petaluma, Calif., Santander was a starting guard for the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs this season. She was named to the All-Big 8 Conference first team after averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Santander scored 20 or more points in five games including a 26-point performance in the 52-40 win at San Jose Community College.

Santander was a four-time All-North Bay League selection at Casa Grande High School. She was also named to the All-County team twice and All-Metro team her senior year. A 3.8 GPA student, Santander garnered Academic All-North Coast Section honors.

Coach Jimenez's comments on Santander: "What really stood out to me when I saw Brooke play was her toughness and leadership.  One of our goals this preseason was to find some versatile players and Brooke fit that well.  There is nothing fancy to Brooks game, it's simple and get's the job done.  She has midrange game, can shoot the three and can pass and rebound.  Brooke comes from a winning program in Santa Rosa Junior College and a coach Lacey Campbell who played at Sonoma State.  Coach Campbell knows what it takes to get her players ready for the next level and she has Brooke ready to compete, now, in the CCAA.  We are going to look to Brooke to be an immediate leader and push our team to get better."
