The Bear Cubs (15-8, 6-5) played the role of visitors at Sierra College against the host Wolverines (19-4, 9-3) for their grand opening celebration of their new gymnasium. Fittingly, the Wolverines scored the first two points of the contest on a field goal by Donelli Allen. Nearly a minute later Lindsey Arellano tied the game with a drive. Arellano put the Bear Cubs ahead when she pulled down a defensive rebound and drove the length of the court around multiple defenders to bank in the layup at the 6:42 mark. Hailey Webb's putback increased the lead to 6-2 just before the midpoint of the period. One free throw each by Sarah Reuter and Mikayla Bumgarner during the next minute was followed by two free throws by Webb. Kaia Eubanks scored on a baseline drive with 1:49 left. Bumgarner sank four free throws on two consecutive trips to the line to close their gap to 8-10. The Bear Cubs added three more points on one free throw by Shasta Vlasak and Sydney Martin's putback of a missed free throw. Bumgarner put in a field goal with 20 seconds remaining to cut the Bear Cubs' lead to 13-10 by the end of the quarter.
Jessie Slade tallied the first two points of the second quarter on a putback. Twenty seconds later Lindsey Arellano swished a 3-pointer off of Kaia Eubanks' pass across the baseline. Ivy Gonzalez hit a 5-foot fade away, and then Donelli Allen sank a field goal at the 6:34 mark. Within the next two minutes Cece Solano scored on a cut down the middle and assist from Eubanks, and Eubanks dropped in a runner from six feet off of Hailey Webb's pass for a 22-14 margin. Katie Leeth made two free throws with 1:36 on the clock. Sydney Martin's 2-footer with 40 seconds left put the Bear Cubs in front 24-16. Dibora Leaf drained a 3-pointer with seventeen seconds remaining, making the Bear Cubs' lead 24-19 by halftime.
The Wolverines started the third quarter with a 9-0 run before Cece Solano banked in a 6-foot runner at the 7:14 mark. Mikayla Bumgarner made a basket 19 seconds later, and then Ivy Gonzalez hit a 20-footer as the Bear Cubs' final field goal of the period. The Wolverines finished the quarter outscoring the visitors 16-4, as the Bear Cubs missed all six of their final shots and sank only four out of ten free throws, resulting in the hosts assuming a 46-32 advantage.
Lindsey Arellano took the first shot of the fourth quarter on a right-handed toss as she drove down the left side. Dibora Leaf responded with a 3-pointer. The Bear Cubs added the next five points on Natalie Royer's 3-pointer and Ivy Gonzalez's fast break layup after catching Arellano's assist. Mikayla Bumgarner was back at the free throw line and made both attempts. The Bear Cubs then scored six unanswered points on Betzie Hernandez's 3-pointer and Lindsey Arellano's 3-point play on another right-handed toss off the dribble from the left side to get within six points, 45-51, with 5:47 on the clock. The Wolverines ended the game on a 10-2 run, with the Bear Cubs only adding two points on Kaia Eubanks' reverse layup at the 2:47 mark, to claim the 61-47 victory.
The Wolverines took control of the game in the third quarter by scoring 27 points while holding the Bear Cubs to just eight points. During that period the Bear Cubs committed 10 turnovers and only made two out of ten shot attempts and four out of ten free throws. For the game the Bear Cubs turned the ball over 28 times and were only successful on 18 out of 56 shots (32%). The Wolverines made 20 out of 71 shots (28%). The Bear Cubs forced nine Wolverines' turnovers in the first half but only four in the second. Four Wolverines scored in double figures: Donelli Allen with 14 points, Mikayla Bumgarner 13, Dibora Leaf 11, and Katie Leeth 10.
Lindsey Arellano, who did not miss a shot or a free throw, finished with 12 points. Kaia Eubanks added 8 points, Ivy Gonzalez 6, Cece Solano and Sydney Martin 5 each, Hailey Webb 4, Natalie Royer and Betzie Hernandez 3 each, and Shasta Vlasak 1. Ivy Gonzalez led in rebounding with 10.
