The Bear Cubs (15-11, 6-8) traveled to Modesto to take on the Pirates (12-14, 6-8) for their last Big 8 road game. The Pirates made their first four shots—all two pointers—while the Bear Cubs made three out of four—Ivy Gonzalez's drive, Cece Solano's low post spin move, and Kaia Eubanks' one-hander from five feet away at the end of a drive—in the opening three minutes. Sara Davis' 3-pointer at the 6:02 mark put the Pirates ahead 11-6. The Bear Cubs scored the next nine points on Lindsey Arellano's 5-footer, her two free throws, Ivy Gonzalez's drive, and Kaia Eubanks' 3-pointer to go in front 15-11 with 3:13 on the clock. Kayla Ogle banked in a putback about a minute later. After a Bear Cub miss and a Pirate miss, Ivy Gonzalez pulled down a defensive rebound and drove the ball all the way down around Pirates to sink the layup. Emma Gilmore's field goal with 42 seconds left cut the Bear Cubs' lead to 17-15 by the end of the quarter.
The Pirates started the second quarter with a 6-0 run, as the Bear Cubs missed seven shots before Kaia Eubanks' 1-footer off of Sydney Martin's assist at the 5:15 mark. Eubanks made her next two shots—a spin move near the basket and a fast break layup—for a 23-21 advantage at the 4:22 mark. Madison Duron tied the score 16 seconds later. During the remainder of the quarter the Pirates added Sara Davis' basket and Izabella Sanchez's putback. Meanwhile the Bear Cubs tallied nine points on Sydney Martin's putback, Ivy Gonzalez's 3-pointer, her drive, and her 5-footer to take a 32-27 lead going into halftime.
Kaia Eubanks took the first shot of the third quarter and sank the 5-footer off of Sydney Martin's assist. The Pirates made three field goals in a row in a little over a minute to close the gap to 33-34. Martin banked in a 2-footer off of Eubanks' assist, and then Siena Musson tied the score with a shot from beyond the arc. Cece Solano, with the ball in front of the basket, faked and spun around to flip in a 4-footer at the 5:52 mark. Sara Davis made two more field goals and Emma Gilmore and Marissa Renteri one each to get out ahead 44-38 with 2:55 on the clock. After Lindsey Arellano sank two free throws, Kareena Kang drained a 3-pointer with 2:25 left. The Bear Cubs put in four more points on Hailey Webb's 2-footer off of Eubanks' assist and Ivy Gonzalez's drive to end the quarter behind 44-47.
Madison Duron completed a 3-point play on the Pirates' first possession of the fourth quarter. Sydney Martin was successful on a left-handed low post spin shot at the 7:45 mark. Consecutive field goals by Siena Musson and Emma Gilmore made their lead 54-46 with 6:30 on the clock. Kaia Eubanks scored four points on two putbacks to get to 50-54 with 3:10 left. Ivy Gonzalez drew a shooting foul twenty-nine seconds later and sank one free throw. Sara Davis added one free throw with 2:13 remaining for a 55-51 margin. The Bear Cubs missed shots and committed turnovers on offense, while having to foul on defense. Davis made two out of four free throws to complete the scoring in the Pirates' 57-51 win.
The Bear Cubs committed 15 turnovers to the Pirates' six. The Pirates pulled down 17 offensive rebounds, seven of them in the fourth quarter. The Bear Cubs made 44% of their shots in the first half (14 out of 32), but they only sank eight out of thirty (27%) in the second half. Eight Pirates scored and two of them reached double figures: Sara Davis with 22 points and Emma Gilmore with 10.
Kaia Eubanks nearly had a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Ivy Gonzalez registered her 11th double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Lindsey Arellano and Sydney
