Karen Horii joined the Lady Bear Cub program as an assistant coach in the fall of 1990. In 1992, she assumed the role of statistician/computer expert. Before coming to Santa Rosa, Horii served as the assistant coach and statistician for the Santa Barbara City College women’s basketball program from 1983-1990.
Horii played point guard at UC Santa Barbara from 1972-1975. She earned her Bachelors and teaching credential in physical education at UC Santa Barbara.
Karen retired in July, 2024 after 33.7 years from her position as a microcomputer lab specialist for Instructional Computing here at SRJC, so she prepares game programs and the men's & women's basketball media guide. In addition to taking stats at all games, she also fills in the scorebook at away games. Karen authors the game recaps which are published online.
