The Bear Cubs came out with an attacking mentality, Tuesday, against the American River Beavers. Sophomore midfielder Kayleen Belda scored in the first minute of the game on a shot from 20 yards out, on an assist from fellow midfielder Taylor Halstenson to give the Bear Cubs an early lead. This was Belda's team leading sixth goal of the year. Just 10 minutes later, sophomore midfielder, Annie Studdert, sent freshman forward, Darcy Forsythe (pictured), a through ball to the corner of the penalty area. Forsythe took a quick shot from 15 yards out to the near post, narrowly beating the Beavers goalkeeper. Forsythe struck again in the 29th minute, receiving a pass from Halstenson to score her second goal of the year on a one-touch finish on the 6-yard line.

The Beavers scored after a miscommunication between the goalkeeper and the Bear Cub defenders in the 44th minute to make the half time score 3-1 in favor of the Bear Cubs.

The second half would result in several chances by both teams, but ended in a 3-1 final score. The Bear Cubs are now 7-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in Big 8 conference play.
