Bear Cubs get a big win and put an end to San Joaquin Delta’s 7-0 record.

Behind Bear Cub Keeper Bailey Cahill, and phenomenal defensive performances by Maleni Avalos, Gabbi Lemos, and Shelly Markmaduke the Bear Cubs battled the full 90 minutes to beat Delta College 2-1.

The first goal came within forty-five seconds of the first half when Amanda Galbraith stripped the ball from a Mustang Center Back to then go 1v1 with Keeper Amanda Valentine. Galbraith sent a rocket and beat Valentine as the ball went past her and into the back of the net. The Bear Cubs struck again as Nikki Elliott sent a ball in towards the Delta goal from a free kick given about forty-five yards out. Midfielder Kaitlyn Haub fought through Delta's defense and hammered in the Bear Cubs second goal in the twenty-third minute, which would then turn out to be the game winner.

In the twenty-sixth minute Delta's Leah Manuleleua would send in a cross to Kiera Muniz. Muniz would score and put the Mustangs on the board making the score 2-1 Santa Rosa.

The second half turned into a scrappy battle as Delta fought to tie the game and the Bear Cubs fought to defend their home turf. When the final whistle blew, the Bear Cubs were victorious. With the win, the Bear Cubs hold the record of 7-2-0 overall and are 2-2-0 in conference.

The Bear Cubs will travel to Sierra College on Tuesday, September 27th and then host Modesto at home on Friday, September 30th.
