SRJC Volleyball wraps up their pre-season with a 10-2 record. The team has been on the road for the past few weeks in Stockton and Saratoga and finished up September 23rd at home against Shasta and Hartnell Colleges. In the Delta Classic on September 11th, the Bear Cubs worked hard for a 7th place finish at the tournament of 16 teams. The tournament was filled with most of the teams who made post-season appearances last year, and therefore SRJC did a good job making a mark for themselves as top contenders in the north this season.

After two hard fought days at the Delta Classic, SRJC traveled to Saratoga to take on Taft and West Valley Colleges. The Bear Cubs handled both of these teams quickly in three sets. The team then turned its focus on the upcoming home matches against Shasta and Hartnell. The Bear Cubs exposed their perseverance by winning two close 5 and 4 set matches last Wednesday.

Leading the Bear Cubs in the pre-season were sophomore hitters Tori Garzoli and Brianna Ortiz who added at total of 121 and 86 kills to help their team to multiple victories. Also, sophomore libero Mimi Fowler lead the team in digs with 155 as well as freshman defensive specialist You Nara with 81 digs. Overall the defense of the Bear Cubs has proven to be fierce during the pre-season. Sophomore setter Emily Bonfigli has also been working hard with her offense adding 429 assists to the board for her team in these first 12 matches.

SRJC hits the road for its conference opener against American River College on Wednesday, September 30th, at 6:30pm. Go Bear Cubs!
