The #19 ranked SRJC Bear Cubs hosted Cosumnes River College for their 2018 home and conference opener in Haehl Pavilion on Wednesday night.
It was a slow start for the Cubs, after dropping the first set 21-25 to the Hawks. But, they were able to respond in the second set for a momentum changing 26-24 win. From there, they were in control in set three with a 25-21 win and in set four with a 25-20 win.
Some standout performances included Lusi Tuaua, who led all attackers with 14 kills and notched on 14 digs. Logan Peck added another 9 kills and 1 block. Violet Johnson led all defenders with 30 digs.
The win puts the Bear Cubs at 1-0 in conference play as they prepare to head to Diablo Valley College on Friday night. SRJC is currently 7-3 overall.
