Hunter Phillips returns to the sport of water polo after a “brief” hiatus, joining SRJC as Men's and Women's Water Polo assistant coach. A Santa Rosa native, Phillips is an alumnus of Santa Rosa High School, where she swam varsity. Hunter also swam for Santa Rosa Neptunes in her youth. Hunter began her water polo career as a walk-on at UC Davis (NCAA, D1), rising from B team to A team in year one and contributing as a utility player, center, and two-meter defender. At UC Davis Phillips was fortunate enough hone the sport under then US National “B” team coach and USA Water Polo Hall of Famer, Jamey Wright. Upon graduating, Phillios joined the UC Davis coaching staff before continuing on to grad school at UCLA where, in addition to an MFA, Phillips completed the UCLA Personal Training program. She is still currently a masters level athlete for USA Water Polo.
